I read 7 books this month:
- Chilling Adventures of Sabrina by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Robert Hack
- The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater
- Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
- A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
- Crushed by Tom and Laura McNeal
- Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill
- The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson

My favorite read was The Raven King, obviously, but I also really, really loved Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda and Becky Albertalli may just have to go on to my auto-buy author list.
My least favorite read was Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill. The main characters were extremely immature and overall, really terrible people. 0/10 – Would not recommend!

Looking Back
The most exciting thing I did the month of August of course was going to London where I bore witness to the magic that is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on stage. I’ve said it every chance I get, and I will never get tired of saying it–the play is so wonderful! I hope that everyone gets to see it performed one day in some way or another.
I went to YALC (Young Adult Lit Con), part of the London Comic and Film Fest, which was technically the last weekend of July. I met so many amazing authors including my queen, Maggie Stiefvater! It was my first convention that was purely for books, and it was amazing!
Of course, London in itself was awesome as usual. It’s such a gorgeous, lively city. I used AirBnB and stayed in a little neighborhood called Thornton Heath. I love AirBnB. It’s so much cheaper than a hotel, and much nicer than a hostel. Plus you really, really do get to experience places like a local instead of a tourist. Since this was my 3rd voyage across the pond, I wasn’t really into the tourist stuff anymore anyway. I can definitely picture myself living in London full-time someday. A girl can dream.
Looking Ahead
September will be a fairly quiet month, probably. Summer is over and I officially need to focus on starting my new life in Alabama. I’ve invested a lot of time into my start-up company, Your Novel Agency. I hope to continue to work on that–building clients and gathering exposure. I’m still seeking a typical part-time job as well. I may even look into retail. I’m just not ready to go back into the classroom mentally or emotionally yet.
I know I’m two days behind, but leave me the links to your monthly recaps! They are oddly my favorite posts to read. I hope everyone had an an amazing August, and that in September you read all the books on your tbr and prosper.

Yayayay, so glad to see you liked Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. I adored that book! Your September TBR looks really good, too. I recently read The Winner’s Curse and really liked it. The writing is so good.
I’m halfway through September and I’ve only finished one book on there so far. lmfao I really need to pick it up! I adored Simon Vs. So, so good. =) I’m looking forward to The Winner’s Curse. Everyone raves about that book. Even the bookseller that sold it to me. lmfao I hope your reading month is going better than mine.
Your haul looks amazing and your TBR is just as great! Hope you’ll enjoy To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before because it’s one of my favourites! 🙂
I saw the Cursed Child play too and am still not over it because it was so amazing! 😀
Here’s my Wrap Up @ Swissbookworm
Thank you! =) I didn’t love To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. It wasn’t terrible, but Laura Jean’s voice was very juvenile for her age. I think I would’ve like it a lot more if she and Kavinsky were more mature.
Ummm, I’ve accepted that I will NEVER get over The Cursed Child. lol I hope it goes on tour, or at least comes to the U.S. on Broadway soon. If it’s in NYC, at least I can get there fairly cheap to see it again. I’m glad you enjoyed it and got to see it too!!!
I’ve read Raven King, Simon vs Home Sapien Agenda, Meant to Be, and Art of Being Normal. I agree with your thoughts 100%. Meant to Be was terrible.
MTB was all the bad cliches and stereotypes that’s wrong with the world. lol I hope you enjoyed all the others too though. 🙂
Thanks Lauren! I have no words for how amazing The Raven King was. I couldn’t even write a review for it because I couldn’t put my feels into actual words. lmfao You have to read Simon Vs. It’s so, so beautiful and funny and amazing. Bump it to the top of your tbr!
